Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées--Vintage 1993
Côte de Nuits. Domaine-bottled: Méo-Camuzet
Tasting Note: The two premier crus from Vosne-Romanée are outstanding wines. The Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées, made from 30 hectolitres per hectare, exhibits a dark ruby/purple colour, and a sweet nose of black fruits nicely complemented by toasty, smoky new oak. Medium to full-bodied, moderately tannic, and in need of 4-5 years of cellaring, it should drink well for 10-15 years. Yes, it does have that smoky characteristic, which is no doubt one of the reasons for this vineyard's name. Méo-Camuzet's 1993s are unquestionably successes for the vintage.
