A CONTINENTAL PARCEL-GILT SILVER SLEEVE TANKARD,
MAKER'S MARK AN "N" REVERSED IN OBLONG PUNCH, TOWN MARK A SMALL DOUBLE-HEADED EAGLE, PROBABLY GERMAN, LATE 17TH CENTURY,
Now lacking cover, the detachable sleeve decorated in relief with a ferocious cavalry engagement between Austrians & Turks, the scroll handle bolted to the rim & terminating in a winged angel's head, traces of gilding to rim & handle, the rim engraved "H.V.G", the spreading foot chased with scrollwork & military trophies, one of these centred by an oval reserve chased with a crescent moon, 7½ in. high (19 cm.), 28.75 oz.
