Lot Essay

Dr. Wittop Koning attributes this mortar to Henrick Wegewart on the basis of similarities of frieze decorations to signed examples. Another example attributed to Henrick Wegewart, in Museum De Waag in Deventer, has comparable decorations to the frieze and comparable Dolphin's handles.
