A SOUTH GERMAN GILT COPPER AND GILT BRASS MOUNTED QUARTER STRIKING WEIGHT DRIVEN TOWERCLOCK 'TURMCHENUHR'

The case on a spreading gilt copper base cast and chisseled with flowerheads and foliage, the conformingly cast hinged side doors applied with gilt brass Doric columns to the angles and glazed arches, the top with two square finials surmounted by later spheres (lacking gallerie), the cast and chisseled gilt copper dial with outer calibrated gilt brass chapterring with Roman quarters and Arabic minutes around the silvered chapterring with Roman hours, the gilt brass centre engraved with a flowerhead and numbered 1-12 with a further gilt brass chapterring numbered 13-24, blued steel probably later hour and minute hands, the brass and iron movement with brass square-section pillars and three divided vertical plates to front and rear comprising three paralled postitioned trains, the going train with later anchor escapement with iron cock and pendulum suspension, the hour and quarter train each with countwheel on the backplate striking on two bells above; some alterations to the movement; pendulum and three weights; on a later teak wall bracket
