Lot Essay

According to Sam Hough, Gorham produced objects with production codes A1 though A100 to F1 through F100 in the early 1880s. These special objects were one-of-a-kind or limited production pieces. Both this lot and the set of mixed-metal casters marked A94 (lot 171) are from this limited coding series.
