Lot Essay

A virtually identical platter is currently in the collection of the Diplomatic Reception Rooms, U.S. Department of State (Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph D. Shein) and is illustrated in Jean McClure Mudge, Chinese Export Porcelain in North America (New York, 1986), p. 227, fig. 380, as well as Clement E. Conger and Alexandra W. Rollins, Treasures of State, Fine and Decorative Arts in the Diplomatic Reception Rooms of the U.S. Department of State (New York, 1991), pp. 77 and 293, cat. no. 184.
