With a varigated marble top and a beaded panelled front, inlaid sans tranverse with strapwork lattice and quatrefoils, with foliate and rosette handles and a rosette centred foliate apron, the panelled stiles with foliate swags and with similarly inlaid panelled sides on square tapering legs with panelled and rosette feet, bearing a metal label inside the drawer 'MEUBELES d'ART MSON MEYNARD FRAGER Succr/50 FG St. Antoine. Lot Essay

The firm of Maison Meynard, established in 1812, was bought in it's entirety in 1889 by Eugène Frager. Throughout it's existence the business was a regular exhibitior and medallist at the Paris exhibitions, it's work characterised by fine woodwork and high quality gilt bronze mounts.
