Lot Essay

Made for Henry Lascelles, a director of the British East India Co., who married Janet Whetstone of Barbados in 1731. His eldest son was Baron Harewood and his nephew the first Earl of Harewood. See D.S. Howard, Chinese Armorial Porcelain, vol. I, p. 295.
