A VICTORIAN SILVER-PLATED SEVEN-LIGHT CANDELABRUM
UNMARKED, MID 19TH CENTURY
The base on massive rocaille scroll feet applied with flowers and scrolls forming three cartouches, one engraved with Greek cypher below Greek Royal crown, rising to an elaborately chased, twisting vine draped with frolicking Bacchic putti and swirling grapevines, the branches issuing from a knop draped with grapevine, with shaped circular leaf-form drip-pans, supporting baluster sockets with leaf scrolls, each socket with plain circular nozzle
27 in. (69 cm.) high
The cypher is that of King George I of the Hellenes, Prince of Denmark (1845-1913).
