Lot Essay

Chase specialised in still-life watercolours of flowers and birds. The daughter and pupil of the topographical painter John Chase (1810-1879) she also received tuition from Margaret Gilles (see lot 122) and exhibited at the Royal Academy and the New Watercolour Society.
