With a scroll arched back and stellar punch decorated panels centred by a buckled belt bordered roundel, on studded turned fluted tapered legs, stamped 'JOHN TAYLOR & SON, MANUFACTURERS, EDINBURGH', stamped on the front rail '7641' and on the back rail 'G.CHALMERS'

Lot Essay

John Taylor and Son were appointed 'Cabinet-makers and Upholsterers in Ordinary to Her Majesty the Queen' at Edinburgh in 1852.Their Rosemount Cabinet Works at Gardner's Court was opened in about 1857 and they continued trading until they were taken over in 1968.
