Title in red and black with a large woodcut on title of a cook and his assistant in a kitchen, repeated in the text, another 31 woodcuts in the text, mostly of animals, woodcut device on penultimate page (part of title and the following leaf supplied in facsimile and mounted, A3 defective at lower and fore-margins with slight loss of text, A4 in facsimile, margins dampstained throughout causing several repairs with slight loss of text, some browning). Modern vellum.
Only edition of this cookery book, very largely based on Rumpolt's book (see lot 104) and probably by him. It was published in the same year as the latter and by the same publisher and contains the same thirty woodcuts of animals by Jost Amman. Weiss 2513; Vicaire 481-82 'excessivement rare'; Simon BB 387. Sold not subject to return.
