Edo period (late 18th-early 19th century), signed Hasegawa Kyorinsai saku (Shigeyoshi II) and sealed Shigeyoshi
The slender inro designed with a scene of Yoshitsune and his retainers about to descend down the incline at the Battle of Ichinotani in gold, silver, black, red and brown hiramaki-e and takamaki-e with kirigane embellishments, the reverse with two crabs fighting rendered in high relief, the shell of one resembling a grimacing demon mask, all against a bright kinji ground, interiors nashiji; fitted with an ivory skull ojime and a stained-ivory seal netsuke of a Chinese lion
