A Russet-Iron Saru-Bo (Monkey Cheek Half-Mask)
Edo period (19th century), signed Myochin ki (no) Munechika
Forged in one section, designed to cover only the chin and cheeks and finished with a russet patina and showing very fine file marks on the surface, with wrinkles below the corners of the mouth and with three pegs for holding cords on the chin, interior red lacquer; fitted with a three-lame lacquered-leather throat guard laced in white, green, blue and orange
