Lot Essay

Helen Anrep entered the Bloomsbury circle in 1924-5 when she met Roger Fry at a party at Vanessa Bell's studio. Anrep was married to the mosaicist Boris Anrep, whom she left to be with Fry. She and Fry lived together until his death. Anrep provided critical support for Fry in his work. After his death she continued her interest and generously supported the artists of the Euston Road School in the late 1930s.

We are very grateful to Richard Shone for his assistance in cataloguing this lot.
