Lot Essay

Estella den Boer went in 1929 to the Instituut voor Kunstnijverheidsonderwijs in Amsterdam, the predecessor of the Rietveldacademie. Her abstract work is dominated by an evenly balanced flat division and rhythm. She is inspired by Mondriaan and the Russian Constructivist painters. In 1994 she had a successful gallery tour in The Netherlands, together with the artists Henk van Trigt and Hans van Rhoon.
