Keil The Cotswolds attract hundreds of thousands of visitors every year from all over the world as well as within the UK. These visitors are lured by the gentle rolling hills (Wolds), interspersed with pretty villages and towns. The buildings there within, constructed from the local honey-coloured limestone, ensure the area retains a magical uniformity that is archetypically English. This charm is compounded and enhanced by the largest concentration of art and antiques in the country outside London. H.W. Keil, known as Bill, opened his business in Broadway in the early 1930's, and as such was one of the founding fathers of the tradition of selling antiques in the 'Wolds'. Bill and his wife Violet had two sons, Peter and John, both of whom started their own businesses after benefiting from the tutelage of their parents; John on Brompton Road in London, and Peter in Cheltenham. The business, now in its second generation, is synonymous with the highest quality furniture and works of art, with an internationally renowned reputation. Sadly, a few years ago, Peter's life was taken in untimely circumstances, and since that time John Keil has had the task of rationalising the business. This sale represents the final restructuring of the firm which will continue to flourish in Broadway.
