KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)
The interior decorated with a five-clawed dragon leaping amidst clouds and flames in pursuit of a flaming pearl, below dragons at similar pursuit in the well, and also on the exterior above a band of petal lappets, all in lemon yellow reserved on an ink-blue ground
9 7/8 in. (25 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

The present dish is a superb example for its strong coloration and controlled use of the blue ground. Compare a similar dish illustrated in Qingdai Yuyao Ciqi, Beijing, 2005, vol. 1, book 1, pp. 138-141, no. 36.
