Château Mouton-Rothschild--Vintage 1995
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
Tasting Note: Also five notes, the first two in New York, December 1997. Crisp fruit and peppery at the pre-sale tasting, but quite unready for drinking at dinner the same evening. The following spring, making a note for the Mouton label book: opaque, velvety; nose like cedar pencil, opening up fragrantly; sweet, full, good extract, exciting flavour - 12.5 alcohol noted. In November 1999, beginning to open up at the MW tasting, its nose distinctly and characteristically spicy blackcurrant; deliciously crisp flavour and glorious end taste. My highest mark, although tied with three other first growths, at Rodenstock's blind tasting. Last noted March 2001 *(****) 2007-2025 M.B.
