A series of thirteen Chinese paintings, late Ming Dynasty
painted in ink and colours on paper, variously depicting Immortals before flaming mandarlas, five with bearded Immortals seated wearing richly decorated robes and flanked by acolytes, three with Immortals fighting with snakes and demons, four with Immortals standing holding hu, two of which include boy attendants bearing banners, the thirteenth depicting a Judgement Day scene, with an accompanying frieze of a procession of Immortals standing and in chariots, acolytes, some carrying parasols and playing musical instruments, with further figures riding a Buddhistic lion and a snake, all progressing towards a bridge -- each painting 48¾in. x 19½in. (124cm. x 49.5cm.), wooden frames, the frieze 9 1/8in. x 164in. (23.2cm. x 406.4cm.). (14)
