Lot Essay

L'attribution de ce dessin à Schedoni a été suggérée pour la première fois par Nicholas Turner, dans le catalogue de l'exposition de 1995-6.
Né à Modène, la formation de Schedoni s'accomplit à Rome auprès de Federico Zuccaro (circa 1541-1609), puis à Parme aux côtés d'un artiste de cour, le flamand Jan Soens (circa 1553-circa 1614). En 1607, il est nommé artiste de cour par Ranuccio Farnèse, pour qui il travailla jusqu'à sa mort.
