Each with a reed-carved scrolled back, outscrolled acanthus-carved arms, caned back and seat with a further multi-colored floral embroidered seat cushion, on shell and acanthus-carved seat rails and cabirole legs, inscribved in black ink 'a-15' and each with indistinct numerals inscribed in white chalk and pencil, the gilding possibly original with refreshments (2)

Lot Essay

These chairs are close to models produced by Jean Gourdin, or Père Gourdin, who was active between 1737 and 1763.
