The original picture was painted by Berchem in 1656 and is in a private collection (see exhibition catalogue, P. Biesboer et.all., Nicolaes Berchem; In het licht van Italië, Haarlem, Frans Hals Museum, 2007, cat. 20, illustrated p. 42).
