Lot Essay

Sir John Inglis married Anne Cockburn of Ormiston. Their son Patrick, who succeeded his father to the baronetry, also sat to Raeburn, as did his brother Admiral Charles Inglis. Both of these latter portraits were recorded in the collection of Sir John Wauchope, Bt.
