Wearing a nemes-headdress with 'plait' down his back and uraeus carved on front, with long beard, holding a flail and crook in his crossed hands, with pierced ear lobes and lips bearing faint traces of red pigment, his faintly modelled eyes, brow and hairline detailed in black

Lot Essay

This shabti, still with traces of its original colouring, is not an idealized face of an Osirian servant, but a contemplative portrait of a king who believed himself the incarnation of the Aten on earth.
