Lot Essay

Accompanied by a certificate from A. Lange & Söhne confirming the date of manufacture of this watch as June 17th, 1942.

Circa 1937 the German airforce began fitting their watches with a panel to indicate manufacturer, serial number and an "F1" number. So as to conceal the identity of the manufacturer, as well as the number of pieces turned-out by each producer, each watch from 1941 onwards was assigned coded indications.
