FIRST EDITION. "Brackenridge gives an account of the fur trade, principally of Manuel Lisa's operations, and describes the expedition to the Yellowstone in 1807, the formation of the Missouri Fur Company, and the expedition to the forks of the Missouri. The second part of the above, Journal of a Voyage up to the Missouri River, describes Brackenridge's trip up the Missouri with Lisa to a newly established post of the Missouri Fur Company, upstream from the Mandan villages" (Wagner-Camp-Becker). The Louisiana Gazette published a series of Brackenridge's essays describing the Louisiana country.
