Illuminated Arabic manuscript on vellum, 71ff. with 7ll. of informal sepia Eastern kufic script, diacritics in red, sura headings in gold, with gold, red and green rosettes between verses, opening and closing bifolio each enclosed within gold borders with polychrome highlights and palmettes extending into the margins, one folio with slightly later marginal notes, in modern brown morocco with flap of thirteenth century design, some staining, final folio damaged

The style of script seen in the present Qur'an is a less formal version of that found in a number of Qur'ans from Tunisia and Morocco (Maroc, Les trésors du royaume, exhibition catalogue, Paris, 1999, p.104).
