Of shallow rounded form on short foot, the centre with small knop and quatrefoil black foliate decoration, the cavetto with pierced pattern and the rim with a series of black dots, minute gilded repaired rim chip

The name given to this particular type of late Safavid porcelain ware derives from the European name for Bandar-e Abbas, the Iranian port from which it was shipped (O.Watson, Ceramics from Islamic Lands, London, 2004, p. 478).
