AN OTTOMAN ENGRAVED BRASS QALAMDAN, TURKEY, 18TH CENTURY
Of oblong form, raised feet around each end, the lid sliding across to reveal a central cavity and circular hole to one end, decorated to sides with Persian inscription from the Khamsa of Nizami, a scrolling vine above and below, the lid with repoussé lines of flowers and leaves, the bottom engraved with flowers - 11in. (28cm.) long
