AN IMPRESSIVE SILVER REPOUSSE HUQQA, INDIA, 19TH CENTURY
Sculpturally conceived, resting on a bell-shaped foot worked in high repoussé with flowers and birds set in curved panels running the length of the bell, surmounted by a large circular plinth with scalloped rim similarly worked with acanthus leaves and flowers, a large sunflower at centre with raised petals around which three winged figures stand one foot raised, a bird perched on one hand, and from which emerges the tubular mouthpiece with bird finial and central section which rises above the figures, a circular plinth with three birds leading upwards to the cup-shaped covered bowl worked with panels of openwork repoussé birds and flowers, the lid hinged and capped with a dome finial upon which a further bird sits - 45 1/2in. (116cm.) high
