Seven fancy dress costumes of characters from The Wizard Of Oz and The Village People, comprising: Dorothy: a blue and white gingham tunic dress with attached white blouse, ruby-red sequin slippers, wicker basket, toy Toto dog and an auburn wig; The Tin Man: simulated tin suit of metallic vinyl material comprising jacket, trousers and hat; The Cowardly Lion: an all-in-one imitation fur suit with lion mask; The Scarecrow: a grey three- quarter-length jacket with imitation straw stuffing, blue trousers and shirt with frayed edges; and The Village People: a U.S. police officer's uniform: navy blue trousers, light blue shirt, hat and plastic sash with imitation Special Police badge; a two-piece sailor suit comprising white top with blue collar and cuffs, hat and bell bottom trousers; and a Native American Indian costume: brown trousers and top decorated with Native American motifs to shoulders and cuffs, with an feather head-dress -- worn by members of the Arctic Monkeys when receieving their Brit Awards in 2007; accompanied by four newspaper clippings concerning the provenance pa lot)

Lot Essay

The Brit Awards were held at Earls Court on 14th February, 2007. The band were unable to appear in person so received their awards for Best British Group and Best British Album via video link in Sheffield. To make their acceptance speeches more unique the group decided to appear in fancy dress. According to the owner of Mr Ben's, the fancy dress shop in Sheffield which hired out the costumes, the builder's costume from The Village People was out of stock, and had to be borrowed from a local building site, hence it's omission from this lot.
