Lot Essay

The letter included in this lot, dated 12th February, 1964, was sent from a correspondent in America, to some friends in England with whom he had been staying. On his return to the U.S., he found himself seated near the Beatles on their flight to the U.S. on Thursday, 6th February, 1964. Knowing the children of his friends to be fans of the Beatles, and in gratitude for their hospitality, he asked the Beatles to sign his ticket envelope, and on his arrival in the States he sent it to them as a thank-you.
