Changement de résidence (G. 66; M./K./J. 54)
woodcut in ochre, 1899, on tissue-thin Japon, a beautiful, delicate impression of this very rare state, M./K./J.'s state Ia (of IIb), one of three known impressions (presumably the illustrated impression), the full sheet (with small upper and lower margins), pale light-staining, three small losses at left center, one at upper left, and three more at upper right, a few small stray ink marks at far right, otherwise in good condition, laid down to Japon, framed
S. 6 5/8 x 12 in. (168 x 305 mm.)

Lot Essay

Most impressions of this tone block were used for the edition of 30 and overprinted.

There is an ink stamp in the image at upper left and appears to be a transposed '15'. This may be a collector's stamp added after the piece was photographed for Mongan, Klipstein, and Joachim's catalogue raisonné.
