Château Cantemerle--Vintage 1983
Macau (Haut-Médoc), 5me cru classé
Signs of seepage, lightly torn label, lightly corroded capsule
"The 1983 is special, and one of the finest wines of this vintage. The color remains dark ruby/purple and the bouquet explodes from the glass with scents of ripe plums, flowers, and oak. On the palate, this generous wine is supple, concentrated, extremely long in the finish, with soft tannins. This is Cantemerle's lushest and ripest style of wine. It has aged at a glacial pace, much like two of this vintage's other stars, Château Margaux and Château Palmer. Anticipated maturity: Now-2005. Last tasted, 9/97." Robert Parker, Bordeaux Book, 3rd Edition (1998)
