Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with pounced ornament and black enamel decorated back cover in 1920 and its subsequent sale on 5 August 1921.
The French expression ramolayé enamel stands for a pounced or embossed ornament decoration, resembling chasing, made with a graver and smoothed with small files known as "rifflers". Consequently, each of these hand-decorated watches is a unique piece.

Similarly decorated dress watches are illustrated in Patek Philippe by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, p. 163, pl. 113 & 114.
