Lot Essay

These candlestands formed part of an important New England collection highlighted by the spectacular pair of 'palm room' chairs from Spencer House sold by Christie's, New York, 17 October 1997, lot 422. The candlestands were sold among additional examples from the collection on 13 April 2000, lot 5-29.
