A wooded river landscape with peasants on a track and hunters in a boat, a village and castle beyond
oil on panel, stamped on the reverse with the panel-maker's mark of Giulliam Aertsen (active in Antwerp 1612-1626) and the coat-of-arms of the city of Antwerp
51.5 x 88 cm.

Specialist note

It is known that after 1617 the panel-makers in Antwerp no longer needed to carve their initials since they were provided with stamps. The present marks are branded, thus suggesting a date later than 1617 for the painting.
