Lot Essay

In the late 1950s, McWilliam moved briefly away from figurative sculpture towards a more abstract approach. The present lot has similarities with the works of Sir Eduardo Paolozzi, R.A. (1924-2005), with whom his work had been exhibited on several occasions in the 1950s. The work employs mechanical and industrial imagery similar to Paolozzi.
