Carved in the form of a slender hanging baluster vase decorated with a seated scholar playing the qin to an attentive lady under a pine tree against a delicate openwork ground, the vase issuing peony, fruiting peach and bamboo, the handle secured by a bat, the ivory with a pale caramel patina
