The horned recumbent beast carved with the head turned to one side and its legs tucked underneath the body, the stone of a dark celadon tone with some minor darker mottling, the stand of oval waisted form, decorated with bands of lappets between key-fret

Lot Essay

An identical example, but in mirror image and also on an identical cloisonné stand, most likely the pair to the current lot was sold in these Rooms, 10 February 1975, lot 243.
