TWO 17TH CENTURY GOLD 'MEMENTO MORI RINGS AND A 17TH CENTURY GOLD POSY RING LATER ADAPTED AS A MOURNING RING
Comprising: one gold 'memento mori' ring of plain hoop design with central engraved skull motif, engraved on the interior, Anna Andrewes ob 17 Dec 78, and undidentified maker's initials, WC; one with hoop with chased striated scale type decoration and central motif, engraved on the interior, I live by Christ, circa 1680; and a posy ring engraved on the interior live in love and God above made us, the outer hoop with later engraved, black enamel inscription, THOMAS BUTTON OB. JUNE. 1775 AET: 66, loss to enamel; finger sizes L, Q and P (2)
