Lot Essay

Harry Ruby was a songwriter who began his career in Tin Pan Alley and later formed a songwriting partnership with Bert Kalmar working on the Amos n'Andy Show, as well as scoring music for Irving Berlin and Marx Brothers films in the 1930s. He was married to Cleo Carter briefly in the 1930s. The ice flask in this lot was a gift to Cleo and Harry on the occasion of their wedding.
