A large collection of letters, contracts, telegrams and correspondence sent to Daniel O' Shea, 1940s-1960s, subjects include: Alfred Hitchcock, Joan Fontaine, Ingrid Bergman, Shirley Temple, Gregory Peck, Rita Hayworth, Merian C. Cooper, Dore Schary, Mervyn LeRoy, Jack Warner, Louis Jourdan and Joseph Cotten, including:
- two typescript letters from Alfred Hitchcock, one a letter on 10957 Bellagio Road, Bel-Air, Los Angeles... headed stationery, dated 14 August, 1944, the letter thanking O'Shea ...Inspired by your legal mind, this is a delightfully formal acknowledgement for my birthday gift. It was actually what I wanted for our house at Santa Cruz..., signed in blue ink Hitch, 1p., the other a chain letter dated 25 April, 1941, signed in blue ink Alfred Hitchcock, 1p., with four other corresponding chain letters, all signed, including one from David O. Selznick;
- three hand-written letters from Ingrid Bergman, including one on IB monogrammed stationery [n.d. but circa 1945] telling O'Shea ...as I am awfully busy making more money, will you please be kind enough to put it in the bank for me, but open a bank account in California Bank, Beverly Hills?, 1p.;
- four letters from Joan Fontaine, the majority thanking O'Shea for some flowers, including one on Fordyce Road, Brentwood... headed stationery telling O'Shea Our daughter [Debbie Dozier] has red hair and a temper to match...we would consider discussing a re-make of G.W.T.W., David could comb the local maternity wards for a new face to play opposite her...;
- a hand-written letter from Rita Hayworth, on Rita Hayworth headed stationery, dated 25 May [circa 1940s], the letter thanking O'Shea for his flowers;
- a typescript letter on Vanguard Films headed stationery from Gregory Peck, dated 13 May, 1947, the letter thanking O' Shea My belated but enthusiastic thanks for the case of Old Forrester on the completion of "The Paradine Case"..., signed in blue ink Greg, 1p.; and related material (a lot)
