A collection of correspondence from Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh to Daniel O' Shea, including: a hand-written letter on Vivien Leigh, Durham Cottage... headed stationery [n.d. but Christmas, 1949], the letter beginning My dear Danny, The most beautiful flowers arrived from you for Christmas...thank you very much indeed... and continuing Would you please come + visit us soon - before this 'Streetcar' knocks me right out!...all good wishes for 1950, I send my love, Vivien, 1p.; a typescript letter from Laurence Olivier, signed, on Durham Cottage, 4 Christchurch Street... headed stationery, dated 30 March, 1949, the letter thanking O' Shea for his cable and telling him Vivien joins me in most affectionate remembrances, 1p., with corresponding mailing envelope; a typescript cable from Vivien Leigh to O' Shea, dated December 4th [circa 1945], the cable beginning It is true I explained to Alex that I was unwilling to do any picture that might interfere with Cleopatra [Caesar And Cleopatra, released in 1945] because my great wish is to play this part. Believe me I am as anxious get to work as you are to have me do so as have been in expectation of doing picture since last January but have done nothing except work for Forces since Doctors dilemna ended in March..., the cable goes on to express Leigh's doubts about the readiness of the other picture planned for her and ends ...fear I shall have Cleopatra taken from me and be left with nothing else to do.
