(Occasional light scattered spotting on guards and in margins.) Contemporary red quarter leather, spine in compartments with bands, covers centred with gilt title ornament, edges gilt (re-backed preserving the original spine, covers damp-stained, extremities lightly rubbed, one lower cover with small area of light staining).

FIRST EDITION, A BRIGHT COPY of the fourth, supplementary volume in Frith's Egypt, Palestine and Nubia. Together the four volumes constitute the second, enlarged edition of the work originally published in two volumes in 1860. This supplementary volume is 'RARE. THE PRINTS IN THIS EDITION ARE OF MUCH STRONGER QUALITY THAN THOSE IN THE FIRST EDITION HAVING BEEN GOLD-TONED' (Gernsheim). The present set is bound in two volumes and in red, rather than the more common one volume in green. Gernsheim Incunabula 195; cf. The Photobook, vol.
