FIRST EDITION. Cavalli, one of the most important figures in Italian photography during the 1940s and 1950s, was a founding member of Gruppo degli Otto, La Bussola, and Gruppo MISA -- all groups of great influence on photography in Italy. 'His accentuation of the creative possibilities of the photographic image had a great influence on Italian photography after World War II and established contact with international trends' (Grove Art). From the collection of the photographer Mario Finocchiaro, founder of 'Il Gruppo 66' (see lot 71).
