Lot Essay

Arthur Claude Strachan was born in Edinburgh, the son of an architect, and studied art at the Liverpool Institute. He is recorded as having exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1891 and 1904, the Royal Institute and the Walker Art Gallery. English country cottages appear to have been his favourite subject.
