CIRCA 1815, NOW ENCLOSING THREE PRESENTATIONAL VOLUMES OF THE HOLY BIBLE
The hinged top enclosing a compartmented interior with three volumes inscribed, the volumes printed by the Cambridge University Press 1830, with engraved plates printed on yellow paper, with contemporary mauve morocco decorated in gilt, the underside with a paper label inscribed '...Gothic Room 62', one front leg replaced in mahogany
21 in. (53 cm.) high; 12 in. (30 cm.) wide; 14 in. (36 cm.) deep
Provenance
The three volumes of the Holy Bible were given to Alan David Murray, 6th Earl of Mansfield (d.1935) on 25th October 1899 on the occasion of his 35th birthday.
