Cutlery urns or Knife cases, Hepplewhite observed were 'usually made of satin or other light-coloured wood, and may be placed at each end on the sideboards' For a similar example of both urns see Christopher Gilbert, Furniture at Temple Newsom House and Lotherton Hall Vol 1, 1978 pp.200 pl. 248 and Country Life, The Dictionary of English Furniture, 1924-27 pp. 276 pl. 9
